Rosa Barba (b. 1972 Agrigento, Italy) studied film science in Erlangen, Germany from 1993 to 1995, and attended the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne from 1995 to 2000, followed by a two year residency at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Informed by social and cultural research, the representation of the subjects in Rosa Barba's films, sculptures, installations and publications deal with the construction of peculiar monuments. At the moment her work can be seen in the Kunsthalle Basel, at Palazzo Grassi in Venice at the T2 Torino Triennale, at the Sculpture Center, Long Island, in the Anthology Film Archive, New York and in the Bildmuseet, Umea, Sweden. Her new artist Book Printed Cinema 1# -10#, 2004-2008 is released by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln. She is represented by Galerie Carlier/Gebauer in Berlin. Rosa Barba lives and works in Berlin. |
